How you update your handicap in GolfApp depends on whether you're linked to GHIN or using a manual estimate — and whether you need a permanent change or a one-time adjustment for a specific round.

If you're linked to GHIN

If your GHIN account number is entered in GolfApp, your handicap updates automatically. There's nothing you need to do.

As long as your GHIN index is current with the USGA, GolfApp pulls the latest value:

  • When you open the app
  • When your profile is viewed
  • When you're added to a round

If your index looks outdated, make sure your GHIN membership is active and that your number is entered correctly in Settings > Handicap. See Linking your GHIN for setup details.

If you use a manual handicap

If you don't have an official GHIN, you're using an estimated handicap index. To update it:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap Handicap
  3. Enter your new estimated index
  4. Tap Save

This updated value will be used in any future rounds and games.

If you need to adjust your handicap for just one round

Sometimes you don't need to change your overall handicap — you just need to tweak your course handicap for a round that's already in play.

To do this:

  1. Go to the Action tab
  2. Find the round and swipe it from right to left
  3. Tap the orange edit pencil
  4. Adjust the course handicap on the Edit Round page

This only affects that specific round — it won't change your profile handicap.

For more on what you can change mid-round, see Editing a round after it's created.
