We just shipped the biggest update GolfApp has ever had.
You might not notice it right away. There's no flashy new screen or splashy new feature. But open a scorecard, run a game, check a leaderboard — everything is faster. Everything is lighter. And that's the point.
What changed
We completely rebuilt the engine that powers rounds and games in GolfApp.
The old system worked like this: every time you opened a scorecard, the app re-computed the results of your game from scratch. Every time. On your device. It got the job done, but it was doing more work than it needed to — and your battery knew it.
The new engine moves that computation off your device entirely. Results are calculated once and stored, not recalculated every time you check the scores. The app pulls what it needs, when it needs it, and nothing more.
Faster load times.
Less battery drain.
A lighter app overall.
Why we did this now
This wasn't a quick fix. It was a full rebuild of the foundation — the kind of work that touches everything.
We chose winter to tackle it. Fewer rounds being played, more time to get it right. We reworked the database schema for rounds, games, leaderboards, and mayhem from the ground up. The goal wasn't just performance — it was building something more usable and more scalable for everything we want to do next.
It was a long time coming.
What you'll notice
Honestly? The app just feels better.
- Scorecards load faster
- Games resolve quicker
- Leaderboards update more reliably
- The whole experience is smoother, especially on older devices
The kind of improvement you feel more than you see.
What's next
This rebuild wasn't just about fixing what was slow. It was about laying the groundwork for what's coming.
We've got some really exciting plans for spring 2026 — new features, new ways to play, and a few things we've been wanting to build for a long time. Stay tuned.
The foundation is set. Now the fun starts.
Enjoy the mayhem.
