Welcome to the GolfApp Blog

We like golf because it gives us a reason to get outside, travel to new places, and spend time with people we care about.

We also like golf because it gives us endless ways to compete.

Different courses.

Different games.

Different formats.

Different ways to keep things interesting when skill levels don't line up perfectly.

That's what this blog is about.

How we actually play

Most of our rounds don't look the same.

Sometimes we're teaching someone a game they've never played before. Sometimes we're tweaking the rules to make things fair. Sometimes we're adding presses, points, or side games just to keep everyone engaged.

We pull levers.

We adjust formats.

We experiment.

Not to overcomplicate golf — but to keep it fun.

Why games matter

Games do a few important things:

  • They keep rounds competitive
  • They motivate people to improve
  • They give every hole a reason to matter
  • They turn casual golf into something people look forward to all week

And once you learn a few games, it's hard to go back to playing the same round the same way every time.

Life's too short for that.

Why we're sharing this

We want more people golfing. We want more people playing games. We want more people discovering formats that make rounds more fun, more fair, and more memorable.

Sometimes that means playing for money. Sometimes it just means playing for bragging rights.

Either way, golf gets better when there's something on the line.

Where GolfApp fits in

GolfApp grew out of this exact style of play.

Lots of games.

Mixed skill levels.

Friends teaching friends.

Formats that change depending on the group.

The app exists to handle the logistics so you can focus on the fun.

This blog is where we share the thinking behind it.

What you'll find here

We'll write about:

  • Golf games we love (and why)
  • How to make rounds more competitive without making them stressful
  • Ways to run trips without losing your mind
  • Why certain formats work better than others
  • How small tweaks can change an entire round

If it's something we'd talk about after a round, it probably belongs here.

Welcome.

Enjoy the mayhem.
